I present to you….. Viral Trader Joe’s Hashbrown Avocado Toast.
The excitement I felt when I saw this recipe was on another level, guys. Like seriously. No wonder this recipe went viral, it’s freaking DELICIOUS! You guys seemed to like it too, when I posted it on instagram recently. So I decided to create a blog post where it can live rent free in all of your stomachs!
My original intent with this recipe was to use burrata as the cheese, but my TJs was out of burrata when I went, so I settled for regular mozzarella balls. I still wanted that burrata look, so I took a fork to the mozzarella balls to smash them. Wouldn’t ya know, they came out looking like burrata! You definitely don’t need to stop here tho, if there is another topping that you would rather add to your hashbrown avocado toast, go for it! Adding some tomatoes or even swapping out the avocado completely and adding ricotta and berries with honey could be amazing! But comment below so we all get ideas of what to add next time!
Nutritionally speaking, this dish is pretty well balanced! The avocado has healthy fats and protein, mozzarella is also a protein source – both of which slow gastric emptying and can help to keep us fuller for longer, and the hashbrown is our carbohydrate, which gives us energy!

Trader Joe’s Hashbrown Avocado Toast
- 1 whole Avocado
- 4 Hashbrowns
- 8 Mozzarella balls Can substitute with Burrata
- Season to taste
- Cook Hashbrowns according to packaged directions and desired doneness
- In a bowl, mix avocado and seasonings (I used salt, pepper, and garlic powder)
- Spread avocado mixture on top of hashbrowns
- Use a fork to smash down mozzarella balls so they resemble burrata, and place on top of the avo mixture
