First off, i’ve literally been trying since October to shoot a similar version of this outfit. I’ve worn it at least 3 times and every time I haven’t had the chance to shoot it. Well I’m certainly glad I got to shoot it for this look!
I went to get my hair done at a Marie Lou & D salon in SOHO last week. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that this is the same place that I had my birthday manicure done! (Note: these 2 visits were totally unrelated)
Anyway, when they contacted me wanting me to come in for a blow out, I immediately emailed them back with a big YES!
I was SUPER impressed with my manicure from the week before, so I thought I would have a similar experience with my long locks. I was right!
From the moment I walked in, both times, I felt welcomed. Katie, the stylist that did my hair was very attentive and took into consideration what I wanted. I’m not usually one to change things up, but I went into this appointment wanting to do something different.
Katie noticed from my Instagram that I usually wear my hair down, so she asked if I wanted to try a cool updo. I’m so glad I said yes! She Dutch braided the top of my hair into a curly ponytail, then wrapped a small section of hair around the ponytail. I was so happy with the result!
I didn’t have a shoot planned for that day, and I had the insane wind working against me, but I ran home and and knew this outfit would complement my new hair perfectly!

Needless to say, I’m already planning my next visit to Marie Lou & D, I’m even planning on bringing some friends along with me!
these are the products Katie used on my hair.
That Hairspray is absolutely amazing… Not only did my hair stay looking pretty good for the amount of wind that I had to deal with, BUT it literally didnt even feel like I had hairspray in my hair at all… Yeah, I’ll be buying this one.
If you’re in the NYC area, stop in or make an appointment with Katie! Tell them I sent you! 😉
PS: If you book thru LookBooker you can get $10 off your first appointment!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
